A while ago, I was on the hunt for blue fabrics. I was running out of blues in my stash, and I had eyed this bundle multiple times. (I’m a sucker for almost anything with strawberries.) Anyway, I’m using up all this blue, and it’s for the best reason possible.

I’m sewing my first ever Two by Four Quilt. I’m using the tutorial by Film in the Fridge, but I was inspired by the many renditions I’ve seen over the years of this quilt. Here’s one of my favorites by Blue Elephant Stitches. Here’s another brighter version by Karlaye.

Most of the fabrics I’m using are from the Flower Sugar Very Berry line by Lecien Fabrics. It’s a bit of an older line, but there are still a few Etsy Shop that carry bits and pieces of it. The blue is sooooooo pretty.

Since I am always most happy with a scrappy quilt, I’m adding in a variety of others solids and low volume prints to complement these flowers and berries.

The pink is Pink flamingo by Kona Cotton. The grid fabric is Architextures by Carolyn Friedlander. Both of these are stocked at Kiwi Fabrics…great fabric store by Kim.

The yellow and white solids are both from Art Gallery Fabrics Pure Elements line. They are banana cream and snow.

This quilt top, I must say, is going to together so quickly! Follow Film in the Fridge’s instructions for the first block, and then you’ll be good to go! Her tutorial is fat quarter friendly too. At this point, I have 30 of my 42 blocks done that I need for a throw sized quilt.

It will be done soon!

While it’s always a little bittersweet cutting into some fabric favorites, it’s always worth it for the end product. Finishing a quilt is so satisfying. It’s joyful to create it and pure joy to see it done.

If you are looking for a somewhat organized and relatively simple quilt top, I recommend giving this one a try. I highly recommend it!
