A Quilt for a Girl’s Room and an Etsy Shop

Hi friends! If you have been following along here for very long, you may have noticed I have two little boys at home. Lots of cars, trucks, tractors, and legos are flooding our house right now. I wouldn’t change that for anything. But, why do I find myself drawn to little petite florals over and over again at the quilt shop? Why am I drawn to pink right now? I’ve never been drawn to pink!

Maybe the overload of boy everything running around our house. 🙂

I have had some of the most adorable Aneela Hoey Posy fabric sitting in my fabric stack for about three years now. I bought it years ago with no intended use. I thought it was adorable.

With the start of the blog and my recently opened Etsy shop, I’ve had some buried motivation to use up all my stashed fabric on new projects.

Out came the Aneela Hoey Posy fabric.

I had a bit of mustard yellow fabric, some brighter coral dotted fabric, and lots of my two standard whites: Kona snow and Kona white. I almost always combine these two whites on my projects. I think combining them gives every quilt just a hint of a vintage feel but the bright white keeps them fresh.

This was a simple quilt to sew. I used the same quilt size blocks as I used in my low volume quilt I made for our bed a few years ago. This quilt ended up in the range of a throw sized quilt measuring approximately 62 by 51 inches. I quilted it with some simple straight line quilting using the seams as a guide.

It was a fun one to make. I listed this one in my shop! It’s a tad hard to see it go, but I had fun making it with the shop in mind. 🙂

I also used up all the scraps from this quilt to make a scrappy quilted pillow cover. It turned out way better than I expected. It was a bit more labor intensive than I thought it would be, but I learned a lot about sewing with scraps!

Here are a few of the products I have listed right now in the shop. I have a few more quilted pillow covers that will be in there by the end of the month too!
