While I recently enjoyed my trip to the small local quilt shop, I continue bookmarking small shops online as well. I’m not sure if it’s personality or just simple preference, but I enjoy a small shop so much more than hundreds and hundreds of listings of fabric options.
I’ll jump straight into the details on this one because it’s been a joy to sew again. It’s a simple one, my friends, but sometimes simple is ideal. I needed something easy this time.
If you’ve followed along here for long, this quilt may look quite familiar. Low volume used to be my only comfort zone, and maybe in many respects, it really still is, but it’s been a while since I’ve relished in that familiar comfort. Low volume is still the most natural for me.
Motivation comes and goes, but when I stumbled upon Heather Ross’ new line, I had the best excuse to purchase it. My second born son is part farmer and other part cowboy. West Hill was perfect.

I ordered this, I believe, back in January. It kind of felt like endless delays waiting almost ten months to get it, but I love it. This is the third Heirloom fabric line by Alexia Marcelle Abegg, and I have grand ideas for my Etsy Shop with this bundle. Pillow are coming in time for Christmas.
I talked about her shop when it was brand new, but I just got around to purchasing something for the first time from Liz Taylor Handmade.
I’m popping into let you know I just found a new fabric shop. If you like fabrics I like, you may enjoy this shop. I thought I’d share it with you.
I made my first garment. This is the third pair of underwear I’ve sewn. You may laugh, but this is quite an accomplishment for me. I’ve sewn straight lines for years. I’ve never embraced curves, and I’ve only sewn with right angle pieces of cotton quilting fabric.
I’ve recently discovered a new marking pen that I love. I 100% understand the majority of you have likely already been using a water soluable fabric marker for years, but I have not. In case you have not found this little gem, I figured it’d be worth while to mention it here.
My sister said she read that we should all be changing out our pillow covers to white linen right now. Spring is here and summer is right around the corner, and we need to freshen up our decor. 🙂
Since the modern quilting movement is so huge now, there are always new lines and new fabrics coming out, but that also means turnover is fast. Lines come and go so fast that fabrics disappear off shelves. Once they’re gone, you can’t always find them again.
I found a new little gadget that was entirely worth the cost. It’s called a bias tape maker. They’ve been around for a while, but I’m usually not a gadget type person. I’ve made my quilt bindings and bias tape with a ruler and an iron for ten years. It takes time, but everything with quilting takes time. I didn’t mind the process.
It is a fun line, friends. If you like the vintage linens or retro flower power patterns, you’ll enjoy this line. It’s bright and cheerful and full of floral prints. It’s mixed well, though, with a few stripes and ginghams.
I’ve watched her shop since before she sold fabric, but I’d never purchased anything from Morgan Kelly Quilts until last month.
So what’s the moral of this post? I guess we all need to impulse buy fabric. Because if we don’t, someone else does and we can’t buy it anymore.
You know how curtains are supposed to almost hit the floor after being hung? Mine are approximately two feet too short. And they’ve been that way ever since moving to our new home.
My Etsy shop is tiny. Teensy tiny. I don’t know if I’ve ever had more than ten items in my shop at one time. I’ve barely capped 100 sales. My audience is small. Three pillows at one time is a big restock for me.
I caught a glimpse of some of Robert Kaufman’s new Junior Mammoth Flannels on Instagram a week ago. I saw a few prints I thought would be beautiful for layering with pillows.
Friends, if you ask me, this is a beautiful bundle. Truth be told, I bought it solely to make pillow covers from for my shop. It’s the first fabric I’ve purchased specifically to make and sell.
