I’ve connected with many other women on this quilting journey, and I’ve recently discovered Mary and Shawn from Sunny Day Supply. Can you say hand quilting? They have inspired me to try it. Their work is beautiful!
Instead of just finishing and checking off a quilt, they have encouraged me to make each quilt a work of art. This takes time and precision and creative thinking for me.
They recently posted on their Instagram feed about a Stocking Sew Along. Despite finishing up a few quilts for Christmas presents, I’m going to try my best to sew along with their Stocking Sew Along. 🙂
They posted a great tutorial on their blog for sewing the stocking using diamonds. Go to www.SunnyDaySupply.com and click through to their blog. Scroll down to their post titled Sunny Stocking!
Since diamonds are a bit intimidating to me, and I thought a hand project sounded nice right now, I decided to English paper piece my diamonds in stead of machine sew them.
I’m getting a jump start on my stocking(s) because I may try to sew stockings for the whole family this year. I’m not convinced that will happen but I’ll try!
If my husband did the trigonometry correct, these diamonds should be sized correctly for English paper piecing along with their sew along. Feel free to download this template if you are up for the Engling paper piecing like me. In case you are curious, I am printing out the template on card stock and glue basting.
All of this fabric is from the Noel line by Cotton and Steel. Most of these fabrics can still be found at Sojo Fabrics.
