A Little Less Here; a Little More There

In January, I decided I wanted to commit to posting here every Monday again. Sewing is a hobby, and just like everything, it’s a blessing to have a bit of informal accountability worked in. This blog is accountability for me. Every good blog needs to have a ‘finished projects category, right? (In other words, it forces me to finished projects every now and then. :))

Not only is it accountability, it’s community and encouragement too!

I still plan on posting here multiple times per month, but I’ve seen that my sewing time is getting squished out by a few other really great things in life.

First of all, my kids are getting older and consistent nap times don’t happen every day. Nap times were the times when I sewed and posted here. Even though we have our daily ‘rest’ time, sometimes I find myself wanting to read to the boys or sit or watercolor with them. I don’t like feeling strapped to personal deadlines during nap times.

Since I end up not getting everything done during the week, I find myself waiting until the last minute on Sunday afternoons to get my posts ready for Monday mornings. That’s just not how I want to be spending every Sunday afternoon.

Secondly, sewing is my hobby. Music is my passion. My husband and I have developed a new website over the last few months. I’m thoroughly enjoying studying and researching a method of teaching piano to children. It’s been an immense blessing in my life, and my desires are to continue pouring into that website and families who desire to have music a part of their home. (Feel free to find it at www.CurwenMusic.com.)

All that to say, I’m not abandoning this site. I still love reading the comments and hearing from you all. I could just tell some other great things were giving me less margin for sewing and posting. Plus, I’m loving (for the most part) spending quality time with my three boys. I’ve heard from moms everywhere to cherish these days while the kiddos are still young.

So I’m going to try to do just that! Like I said, I’ll still be posting here! It will just be a bit less consistent. 🙂

  1. Hi Kelli!
I really enjoy your blog and instagram feed. It is all so inspiring! I would like to open an etsy shop too but am having trouble finding the time as a mom with four children still at home, homeschooling, and farming. Sewing comes last these days. It is just as you said about spending time with your children. They grow up too fast and it is so important to spend time with them. Best wishes to you and your family!

    1. Hi Karin, thanks for the echo of understanding. I still love to sew. It’s just getting squished out by a lot of other really great things. We are also starting our youngest in the fall…schooling him at home. AND, we plan on moving rural sometime in 2020. It sounds like we have a few things in common. 🙂 I hope you, too, are enjoying the quality time you are spending with your children!
