While I recently enjoyed my trip to the small local quilt shop, I continue bookmarking small shops online as well. I’m not sure if it’s personality or just simple preference, but I enjoy a small shop so much more than hundreds and hundreds of listings of fabric options.
I’ll jump straight into the details on this one because it’s been a joy to sew again. It’s a simple one, my friends, but sometimes simple is ideal. I needed something easy this time.
If you’ve followed along here for long, this quilt may look quite familiar. Low volume used to be my only comfort zone, and maybe in many respects, it really still is, but it’s been a while since I’ve relished in that familiar comfort. Low volume is still the most natural for me.
Something small. Something quick and whimsy. Something just to make them smile. I’ve seen fabric postage stamps for years, but I had no reason to take the time to make them until now. They’re fun and quick and simple.
I have four children right now. They are seven, five, three, and three months. A couple years ago, I finished an economy block quilt for my seven year old. I have sewn zero quilts for my other children.
I went on a hunt the other day to find some jersey knit fabric. I wanted some small cuts of jersey fabric to make some headbands for our new baby girl. This search turned out to be much more difficult than I had anticipated. I didn’t find many fabric stores dedicated to a good variety of jersey fabrics.
I have this little blue pouch that I’ve carried around for approximately the last two years. It contains my green thimble, a little pair of Fiskars scissions, Pearle Thread, and hand quilting needles.
Well. I lost it.
