Homemade White Linen Pillows

My sister said she read that we should all be changing out our pillow covers to white linen right now. Spring is here and summer is right around the corner, and we need to freshen up our decor. 🙂

She went on to request three new linen pillow covers for her oversized pillows on her couch. Since they’re 24 inch pillows, I found some wide back linen. This gave me plenty of wiggle room for three large covers.

In general, fabric is about 44 / 45 inches wide. Wide back fabric is a full ten inches wider at 54 /55 inches wide. (Not all fabric comes in wide back. Usually basics that could be used for a quilt back, for example, are the few fabrics that are printed wider than normal.)

I’ve sewn with Robert Kaufman’s Essex Linen many times before, and I used it, once again, for this project. If you’re on the hunt for linen, check out AA Cotton Creations or Modern Quilter. I’ve purchased from them both, and they have an excellent collection of Essex Linen.

I happened to find some of the white wideback linen at Perfect Quarter Inch. I had never purchased from them, but my fabric came as expected and shipping was quick. The zippers? They came again from Zipit. These are 20 inch zippers since they covers are so large this time. Zipit and Sullivan’s Trim are my go-to shops for zippers.
