New Fall Quilt Projects with Fableism & Lush Life

The evenings just went dark here in central Illinois. The time changed, and our rhythms are forced to shift a little from going outside to being inside through the evening hours. Aside from asking our neighbor for a sourdough starter to use through the winter months, I did some organizing and dreaming and cleaning up of fabrics and stacks and sewing supplies.

Life ebbs and flows on the regular, and I’m in a season again where I want to sew. I start most mornings with a cup of coffee and hand quilting. If I want to hand quilt, I need to have something to hand quilt. Thus, I need to figure out what’s next. I am almost done hand quilting my current Romona quilt. It’s a pattern by Penelope Handmade.

Instagram recently fed me a post from The French Seam, a small fabric shop in Indianapolis. While I do frequent my local quilt shop for standard supplies, I don’t buy much fabric there simply because my tastes lean a little differently than what the ladies stock there. Since I do most of my fabric shopping online, I still find myself a little starry eyed when I’m able to visit a fabric shop in person with fabrics I appreciate.

Here’s a little of what I came home with from The French Seam.

The bird fabric is Birds of a Feather in Ivory from the Lush Life collection by Monaluna. The butterfly and insect fabric is On Display in Amber from the Insectarium collection by Tamara Kate. The stripes are Boleo in Mango – Tango from Anna Maria Textiles. The other two fabrics are Fableism fabrics…Southwest in Pink from the Lucky Loom collection and Wild Floral in Blushing from Fableism’s Indian Block Prints.

Just a note that while I have purchased other wovens from Fableism, this is the first Indian block print fabric I have purchased. I love the drape and texture! It’s just a tad different than the other cottons. It kinda reminds me of a well worn cotton pillow case, and if I didn’t have a long mental line up of projects, I’d give that project a try. The fabric feels ideal for a standard pillow case.

I’m dreaming again and ready to create inside through the winter months. Once the warmer weather arrives, I’ll likely move back outside to the flower garden.
