Warp & Weft Wovens by Ruby Star Society

I wanted to see what these wovens were like. They’re a bit outside my realm of comfort, but as I’ve entered into the world of texture, they had me curious.

I like them.

The Warp & Weft Wovens are definitely light weight. They are not heavy like canvas or duck cloth. They are flimsy…even lighter than Essex linen. I would compare their weight to Art Gallery Fabric’s denim.

I am in no way saying they’re not high quality or too thin. They’re just a light weight fabric. I was simply expecting something different.

They’re beautiful. And they’re textured!

I bought these from Handmade is Heartmade.

I purchased them to make a pillow cover for my living room. Because the fabric is a bit more delicate than I expected, I added some interfacing to keep the threads in tact on the inside of the pillow.

The woven threads on the backs of the fabrics are quite exposed. I’d be fearful of snagging or pulling when stuffing a pillow cover in. You can see in the below image the threads on the backs. I was a bit cautious with them.

I was expecting something more in the middle of quilting cotton and upholstery fabric. They’re more in the same ballpark as quilting cotton, and I honestly think they’d be delightful to add in a quilt.

There are always pros and cons of adding textures and thicker fabrics to quilts. These are not going to be bulky at all.

I only purchased four different patterns. I bought all four at Handmade is Heartmade. I’ve recently made a few purchases from them. I’ve experienced good communication with the sellers and fast shipping.

The fabric below is a very pretty navy, but I had a hard time capturing the color well.

If you’re looking to add some texture to your next quilting project, I’d recommend them. They were a bit different than I expected, but they’re very pretty fabrics!
