Big Patch Quilt by Hopewood Home

Big Patch Quilt by Hopewood Home, Warp & Weft Heirloom by Ruby Star Society

My favorite part about quilting is the fabrics. I love the fabrics. The patterns, textures, and colors are beautiful, and when you combine them into a patchwork quilt, everything gets better.

A Finished Checkered Garden Quilt

7 / 24 / 217 / 24 / 21
Film in the Fridge Checkered Garden Quilt by The Willow Market

Completely finishing a quilt is taking longer and longer for me. Hand quilting definitely slows down the process, but the flowers in my yard, precious children growing out of nap times, and too many books to read these days are also willingly taking up my quilting time.

Checkered Garden quilt block by Film in the Fridge

If you’re new to quilting, experienced, or if you’re looking to use up 2 1/2 inch wide scraps, I think this is a great block.

Linden sweathsirt by Grainline Studio

Many mysteries of life have been solved now. Up until a week ago, clothes have been a mystery to me. I’ve sewn squares and triangles together for the last ten years of my life, but I’ve never sewn curves and hems.

Triangle Pillows, Art Gallery Fabrics Sparkler Fusion Collection. Everlasting Blooms.

Adding pillows to my shop is few and far between right now, but there are two new ones in there. I fell for the florals on this one.

Homemade Underwear

Homemade Underwear, Beginner garment sewing

I made my first garment. This is the third pair of underwear I’ve sewn. You may laugh, but this is quite an accomplishment for me. I’ve sewn straight lines for years. I’ve never embraced curves, and I’ve only sewn with right angle pieces of cotton quilting fabric.

Do Fabric Pens Work Well?

5 / 1 / 215 / 1 / 21
Do water soluable fabric pens work well? Dritz Fine Line Mark-B-Gone.

I’ve recently discovered a new marking pen that I love. I 100% understand the majority of you have likely already been using a water soluable fabric marker for years, but I have not. In case you have not found this little gem, I figured it’d be worth while to mention it here.

How to sew a homemade white linen pillow cover.

My sister said she read that we should all be changing out our pillow covers to white linen right now. Spring is here and summer is right around the corner, and we need to freshen up our decor. 🙂

How to Sew a Gauze Baby Blanket

4 / 7 / 214 / 7 / 21
How to Sew a Gauze Baby Blanket or Quilt

(Please know that affiliate links have been used in this post.) Babies are the best excuse to purchase new fabric and sew a quilt. So I did just that. Some dear friends welcomed a little boy into the world back in November. As usual, I purchased fabric right away. Like always, the blanket took longer… Read More
