New Pillows in my Etsy Shop

6 / 7 / 206 / 23 / 20
Quilted patchwork pillows for sale

These were a joy to sew. I think I’m finally at the point where sewing pillows comes with very few glitches. I’ve made enough of them now that I’m zeroing in on my best practices and processes. (It’s been six years in the making.)

All the fabrics so far in this post are from Heather Ross’ 20th Anniversary line, and you can find them in stores now. I’m going to these that plus some fabric from her other lines to sew a Checkered Garden Quilt for my 3 year old.

Floral Pillow Covers for Sale

AngieMakes Fabrics. Floral Pillows for Sale.

In all honesty, I would not consider myself an impulse buyer. I’m not a huge shopper, and most of my purchases are quite calculated. If I go to the thrift store, I go for something specific…lest I come home with dust collectors. I’ve used the same purse for over six years now. My husband bought it for me when our second son was born. I haven’t bought a new purse since.

Quilting with Triangles, how to sew with Triangles

Do you like the fabrics in this pillow? Unfortunately most of these well loved fabrics are no longer available for purchase. All of these prints were done by the ladies of Ruby Star Society.

Then Came June Basics Fabric Bundle

Then Came June Basics Bundle

What is my favorite part of quilting? The answer may surprise you. The actual making of the quilts is not my favorite part. Is that strange? I don’t necessarily mind sewing (I actually do absolutely love hand quilting though), but a project never goes by without some sort of frustration.

How to Sew a Triangle Quilt

4 / 19 / 204 / 19 / 20
How to Sew a Triangle Quilt

Sewing a triangle quilt was actually one of my very first quilt projects. It was an extremely frustrating project. I hadn’t done any research at all. I ran across a quilt that inspired me to make a triangle quilt. I went to Jo-Ann’s and bought a triangle ruler. I went home and started sewing.

How to Make Burp Cloths from Jersey Knit Fabric

4 / 13 / 204 / 14 / 20
How to make a burp cloth with jersey knit fabric.

A couple weeks ago I purchased a variety of 1/4 yards of jersey knit fabric. Since these were not fat quarters, they are pretty narrow strips of fabric. They are only nine or ten inches wide. My options for creations were limited because of this.

I originally bought the fabric to make a few headbands for our new baby girl.

So I made a handful of headbands and though, ‘now what?’

Half Square Triangles, Hand Quilting, and a Big Finish for Me

3 / 31 / 204 / 1 / 20
half square triangle quilt, denim quilt, floral quilt, kona cotton in white

On January 26, 2020, I sewed the last stitch on this quilt. This is the first large quilt I have entirely hand quilted, and I actually finished it friends. I have no regrets, and I’ve enjoyed so many moments slowly stitching away. You can’t be in a hurry when you decide to hand quilt a huge quilt.

Where to buy Jersey Knit Fabric

3 / 26 / 204 / 1 / 20
where to buy jersey fabric

I went on a hunt the other day to find some jersey knit fabric. I wanted some small cuts of jersey fabric to make some headbands for our new baby girl. This search turned out to be much more difficult than I had anticipated. I didn’t find many fabric stores dedicated to a good variety of jersey fabrics.
